Power Book III: Raising Kanan Actor Jermaine Rivers joins the DCEU in Black Adam

The superhero genre is hot right now and Jermaine Rivers is a man on Fire. With the release of the highly anticipated film “Black Adam” starring Dwayne Johnson being days away, not only will the hierarchy of the DC Universe change, but also the careers of the actors involved with this film. With his role in Black Adam, not only has Rivers cemented a space for himself within the DCEU, but his acting career is now moving in an upward trajectory.

Rivers is no stranger to the genre, the Atlanta based actor is best known for his recurring role as Shatter on Marvel’s series “The Gifted”, a drama that was set in the X-Men universe. Last year Rivers officially became part of the MCU when he doubled as (Jamie Fox’s) Electro in “Spider-Man No Way Home”. With roles in both the MCU DCEU under his belt Rivers is well on his way to becoming a house-hold name.

We’ve seen this phenomenon happen before. In fact, ten years ago the MCU set a precedent by casting B-list and virtually unknown actors like Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Scarlet Johansen, into roles that would launch their careers into levels of super stardome. Over the course of a decade, a number of well thought out, interconnected films would set the foundation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This highly successful multi-billion dollar franchise would serve as the catalyst which birthed the next generation of Hollywood A-Listers and action heroes.

Rivers is in a prime position to have similar success. No one can doubt that his career is taking off like a skyrocket. Over the last few years we’ve seen him grow as an actor, from having bit parts to landing supporting roles in some of the highest grossing films like “Den of Thieves” and “Hangman”.

The big screen isn’t the only place where Rivers is making his mark, he’s also waging a successful campaign in Network TV and popular streaming services as well like: Power Book III: Raising Kanan (Starz), and most recently his recurring role as (Charles Perkins) in Netflix’s hit series “Sweet Magnolias”.

2022 has undoubtedly been Rivers’ Breakout year but 2023 is shaping up to be even more impressive. Look for him next year as he takes on lead and supporting roles in the following films slated for release: “A Party to Die For” a suspense thriller produced by MarVista Entertainment and “Freedom’s Path” a Civil War epic directed by Brett Smith. Jermaine Rivers is rep’d by Play Management and Eris Talent.
