The music scene has welcomed an electrifying new presence with the debut release of “Power Take Off” (PTO), a band that breathes fresh energy into rock and pop-punk. Their self-titled album, “Power Take Off,” released on September 27, 2024, through Stryker Records and distributed by Virgin Music Group (Universal Music), has already created a buzz. Climbing to #28 on the SMR top 50 charts (week of 11/12/24) with their hit single, “All the No’s,” the band is striking a chord with audiences eager for powerful anthems and energizing performances.

Defining Their Sound and Style

“All the No’s,” recorded at Megatone Studios in Madison, Wisconsin, by Paul Schluter and produced by Scott Wilson at Sunshine Studios in Colorado Springs, delivers an infectious, uplifting message. The song encourages listeners to believe in themselves, follow their passions, and not take “no” for an answer—an anthem of self-empowerment that resonates strongly with today’s rock audience. With its energetic beats and catchy lyrics, the track embodies the core ethos of “Power Take Off” as they carve their place in modern rock. This breakout single is just the beginning for PTO as they prepare to release their next track, “Between You and Me,” which will debut on radio stations nationwide on December 10, 2024.

A Unique Band with a Powerful Backstory

“Power Take Off” isn’t your typical rock band. Formed by father-son duo Scott Theis (vocals) and Ayden Theis (drums), the band combines seasoned experience with youthful energy. Scott, a fourth-generation farmer turned musician, began his career behind the drums but later took on the role of lead singer. Ayden, just 17, has been playing the drums since he was two years old and follows his father’s footsteps with equal passion and talent. Together, they began creating music in their basement studio during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, solidifying their shared musical vision.

Joining Scott and Ayden are Ethan “Hank” Schluter on guitar, Mike “Cowboy” Delp on guitar, and Jakob “JR” Ripp on bass, each bringing their own musical backgrounds and distinctive styles to the mix. Together, this lineup has cultivated a sound that resonates with fans of Machine Gun Kelly, Green Day, Weezer, and Blink 182, delivering a blend of rock and pop-punk that appeals to a broad audience.

Future Plans and Collaborations

The band’s journey is just beginning, with plans to take their unique sound further. In February 2025, “Power Take Off” will head to Nashville to record their next album under the guidance of platinum producer Malcolm Springer. Adding another layer of rock legacy to the project, the album will feature Peter Keys, the iconic rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd’s keyboardist. This collaboration signals an exciting new chapter for “Power Take Off” as they expand their musical boundaries and aim to reach new heights with their upcoming work.

With management by Michael Alexander of Sandman Music Management, “Power Take Off” is well-positioned for future success. The band’s presence on the SMR chart reflects its growing popularity and the anticipation surrounding its continued releases. Beyond the studio, its live performances are drawing attention for its energetic stage presence and the unique dynamic it brings to each show. Scott and Ayden occasionally switch roles on stage, with Scott on drums and Ayden taking on vocal duties, adding a refreshing twist that keeps fans engaged and wanting more.

The Band Members’ Musical Journeys

The band members bring diverse backgrounds and influences that shape “Power Take Off’s” distinctive sound. Scott Theis, the frontman, grew up on a dairy farm, where he developed a love for music alongside a strong work ethic. His passion for music began with a drum set gifted to him at age 12, leading him to perform across the country before settling into his role as a singer-songwriter. Scott’s younger son, Ayden, also discovered his musical passion early on, forming his own bands and crafting his unique style, influenced by artists like Elvis and Johnny Cash. Their bond as father and son translates into a powerful musical partnership that drives the band.

Guitarist Ethan “Hank” Schluter, who joined the band at 18, grew up inspired by his father, a band member of Last Crack. His influences, ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Jeff Beck, give Ethan a nostalgic and fresh style. Known for his bleach-blonde hair and energetic stage presence, Ethan’s performances add an electrifying edge to “Power Take Off’s” shows. Bassist Jakob “JR” Ripp, who started playing at 16, brings a solid rhythm and a love for rock that completes the band’s lineup.
