Daily Glimmers Journal: A New Spark in the Healing Art of Gratitude Journaling

By: Nic Abelian

The Daily Glimmers Journal, a new entrant in the field of gratitude journaling, is making waves with its innovative approach and focus on the power of “glimmers.” The journal, designed to enhance gratitude, improve mindfulness, reduce stress, and promote an overall sense of well-being, has garnered a series of 5-star reviews on Amazon within its first month of launch. Annette T. Hill, a highly-credentialed therapist renowned in her field, endorses the Daily Glimmers Journal, calling it “an enjoyable and informative form of gratitude journal I’ve seen in a long while,” and hails it as “a much-needed fresh spark for the healing art of gratitude journaling.”

The creator of the Daily Glimmers Journal, Candy Parker, was inspired by her personal experiences as a trauma survivor and her struggles with depression. Parker discovered that focusing on “glimmers” – small, positive moments throughout the day – helped her to cultivate a more positive mindset and emotional resilience. This realization led her to develop a journaling tool that would allow others to experience the same benefits. Each element of the Daily Glimmers Journal, from the daily prompts to the weekly check-ins and exercises, is thoughtfully designed to guide users through a transformative journey of gratitude.

The unique premise of the Daily Glimmers Journal lies in its emphasis on noticing and reflecting upon these fleeting moments of joy, calm, love, beauty, and connection, or “glimmers,” a term coined by Deb Dana, a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in complex trauma and co-founder of the Polyvagal Institute, in her 2018 book “The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy.” Unlike traditional gratitude journals that may prompt users to list things they are thankful for in a more general sense, the Daily Glimmers Journal encourages a deeper exploration of specific moments. This approach not only heightens awareness but also fosters a more meaningful connection with one’s emotions and experiences.

Users are prompted daily to delve into specific moments for which they feel grateful, identifying the associated emotions and briefly journaling about them. This practice serves to enhance mindfulness, a key component in reducing stress and anxiety. Each week, users engage in a “check-in” to reflect on the sources of these micro-moments of joy and the changes they have observed in themselves since beginning their journey with the Daily Glimmers Journal. By focusing on these small, positive moments, users are effectively training their brains to recognize and appreciate the good, thereby nurturing a more optimistic outlook on life.

The journal also includes unique weekly “Glimmer Exercises,” which are designed to reinforce users’ relationships with their glimmer moments and deepen their gratitude for them. These exercises provide an opportunity to pay the positivity forward, encouraging users to spread kindness and appreciation in their communities. This outward expression of gratitude not only benefits the recipients but also amplifies the journal user’s own sense of well-being.

The Daily Glimmers Journal’s method is grounded in psychological research, which shows that regular gratitude practice can have numerous benefits, including enhanced mood, reduced anxiety, and improved sleep. By integrating the concept of “glimmers” into its framework, the journal goes a step further in making gratitude practice both engaging and impactful. It is not just about listing things to be thankful for; it is about noticing, acknowledging, and appreciating the small, often overlooked moments that make life beautiful.

Parker’s personal involvement in creating every aspect of the Daily Glimmers Journal is a testament to her commitment to helping others find joy in the everyday. Her collaboration with Annette T. Hill, who provided the foreword for the journal, adds credibility and a professional endorsement to the product. Hill’s expertise as an MC, LPC, NCC, and EMDR Certified Therapist underscores the journal’s value as a tool for emotional and mental well-being.

The Daily Glimmers Journal’s early success and positive reception are reflected in its 5-star ratings on Amazon. Users have praised the journal for its ability to bring a fresh perspective to the practice of gratitude journaling. This innovative tool not only guides users toward a habit of mindfulness but also helps in rewiring their brains to focus more on positive experiences, fostering a greater sense of joy and contentment.

In a world that often feels fast-paced and overwhelming, the Daily Glimmers Journal offers a simple yet powerful tool to pause, reflect, and appreciate the little things. By guiding users to focus on “glimmers,” Candy Parker has created more than just a journal; she has offered a pathway to a deeper, more fulfilling form of gratitude that has the potential to transform everyday life.

Sydney, Australia’s largest city, is a vibrant metropolis with stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and dynamic urban life. Known for its iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the city offers many experiences catering to all travelers. Whether you’re drawn to its historical sites, breathtaking beaches, or thriving arts scene, Sydney is a destination that aims to leave a lasting impression.

The Charm of Sydney’s Iconic Landmarks

Sydney is synonymous with its world-renowned landmarks, which are visitors’ must-see attractions. The Sydney Opera House, with its distinctive sail-like design, is an architectural marvel and a hub for the performing arts. Visitors can take guided tours to explore the history and artistry behind this UNESCO World Heritage site or enjoy a show in one of its many theaters.

Just a stone’s throw away is the Sydney Harbour Bridge, affectionately known as the “Coathanger” by locals. This engineering feat offers breathtaking views of the city and the harbour, especially if you’re brave enough to take the BridgeClimb to the summit. The experience is not just about the climb; it’s a journey through Sydney’s history, narrated by expert guides who provide insights into the bridge’s construction and significance.

Circular Quay, nestled between these two landmarks, is an excellent spot to soak in the harbour’s beauty. From here, you can catch a ferry to explore other parts of the harbour, such as the Taronga Zoo or Manly Beach, each offering its own unique perspective of Sydney. For those looking to delve deeper into the city’s history, a visit to The Rocks, a historic area near Circular Quay, reveals Sydney’s colonial past through its cobblestone streets, heritage buildings, and engaging museums.

Exploring Sydney’s Diverse Neighborhoods

Beyond the famous harbour, Sydney is a city of diverse neighborhoods, each with its own distinct character and charm. Darling Harbour is a lively precinct offering a mix of entertainment, dining, and cultural attractions. The SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and the Australian National Maritime Museum are popular with families, while the area’s restaurants and bars provide ample opportunities for a relaxing evening by the water.

For those who appreciate art and culture, a visit to the Art Gallery of New South Wales in the suburb of Woolloomooloo is a must. The gallery houses an impressive collection of Australian, European, and Asian art, with exhibitions that range from classic to contemporary. Nearby, the Royal Botanic Garden offers a serene escape from the urban bustle with its beautifully landscaped gardens and panoramic views of the Sydney skyline.

Head to Surry Hills for a taste of Sydney’s bohemian vibe. This trendy neighborhood is known for its eclectic mix of boutique shops, art galleries, and cafés. It’s a place where creativity thrives, and visitors can explore everything from vintage clothing stores to contemporary art spaces. The suburb is also a foodie’s paradise, with various dining options that reflect Sydney’s multicultural population, offering everything from gourmet burgers to authentic Italian cuisine.

Natural Beauty and Outdoor Adventures

Sydney’s natural beauty is one of its biggest draws, offering outdoor enthusiasts endless opportunities to explore. The city is surrounded by national parks, pristine beaches, and coastal trails that showcase Australia’s stunning landscapes. Bondi Beach, perhaps the most famous beach in the world, is a hotspot for surfers and sunbathers alike. The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is a highlight, providing dramatic ocean views along the 6-kilometer trail, passing by picturesque beaches and sandstone cliffs.

For a more rugged adventure, the Blue Mountains, located just outside of Sydney, offer a world of natural wonders. Known for its dramatic scenery, the Blue Mountains are home to ancient rainforests, deep canyons, and towering waterfalls. Hiking trails like the National Pass take you through lush valleys and offer spectacular views of the region’s famous Three Sisters rock formation.

Sydney is also a gateway to the Royal National Park, the world’s second-oldest national park. Here, visitors can explore coastal cliffs, secluded beaches, and native bushland. The Figure Eight Pools, a series of naturally formed rock pools, are a popular attraction, though reaching them requires careful planning due to tidal conditions.

Sydney’s outdoor appeal extends to its harbour, where kayaking and sailing offer a unique way to experience the city’s beauty from the water. Whether paddling under the Sydney Harbour Bridge or cruising towards the Sydney Heads, the city’s waterways provide an unforgettable perspective on this iconic destination.

This trip was made possible through the hospitality of Sydney Bus and Coach, which provided seamless transportation so that you could explore every corner of this magnificent city. Sydney’s blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and urban sophistication makes it a destination that truly has something for everyone. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or returning to uncover more of its hidden gems, Sydney never fails to enchant and inspire.

Skating to Success: Kristina Kutepova’s Impact on Silicon Valley’s Young Athletes

Kristina Kutepova, a figure skating coach who immigrated from Russia to the United States, has quickly become a prominent figure at the Nazareth Ice Oasis in San Mateo. With over a decade of coaching experience in Russia, Kristina initially worked as an assistant coach in the U.S. to immerse herself in American skating culture and improve her English, particularly to connect with young skaters. She has mastered speaking the “language of children,” allowing her to communicate with her young athletes on a deeper level.

Kristina holds a BA degree in Physical Education and is a United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) member. She is a certified USFSA coach and a professional member of the Ice Sports Industry (ISI), where she also serves as a Bronze-level judge. Beyond her coaching, Kristina is an accomplished author of several scientific review articles, the most recent of which explore the use of modern technologies such as AI and tracking systems in figure skating training. These credentials and contributions reflect her deep commitment to the sport and her drive to enhance her expertise continuously.

In April 2023, Kristina began working closely with young skaters Cecilia Lee, who was 7, and Aurora Henrickson, who was 6, applying her unique blend of on-ice training, off-ice physical conditioning, and choreography. By October 2023, these efforts bore fruit as Cecilia secured first place in the Free Skate category at the 58th Annual Arrowhead Open Championships in Ontario, CA, performing a program choreographed by Kristina herself.

Kristina’s coaching journey reached new heights when she began preparing her skaters, including Claren Luk, for the prestigious ISI World Recreational Team Championship, held this year in San Jose. This championship is a significant event in the figure skating world, bringing together recreational skaters from around the globe to compete in various categories. Aurora and Claren both secured first-place finishes in their respective categories, executing their routines flawlessly under Kristina’s watchful eye.

Beyond the rink, Kristina’s influence continues to grow. She currently coaches 30 athletes, eight of whom have already competed under her guidance. Among them is Nicole, just 3 years old, who was invited to participate in a benefit show as the youngest competitor—a rare feat for someone so young. Kristina’s hands-on approach, where she remains by the side of her youngest athletes during performances, sets her apart in a field where such personal attention is uncommon and requires special and individual approach.

Looking ahead, Kristina has her sights set on the 2034 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, with dreams of coaching her skaters to Olympic gold. But her ambitions don’t stop there. Inspired by the innovative spirit of Silicon Valley, she envisions developing a figure skating app designed to bring professional-level training to those who lack the time, financial resources, or access to traditional coaching. She also plans to launch a non-profit organization to provide figure skating opportunities for children from underserved communities.

Kristina is also one of the few coaches who incorporate her own techniques into training, helping to establish strong connections with her young athletes. This approach has made her one of the sought-after coaches in the area, with a growing waitlist of students eager to train under her guidance.

In just 18 months of leading her athletes, Kristina has not only built a reputation but has also created a demand that sees any available slots in her schedule quickly filled. With her unique methodology, talent, and vision, Kristina Kutepova is poised to leave an indelible mark on the world of figure skating and grow powerful athletes for the U.S.
