Key Signs That You’re Not Getting Enough Sleep at Night

Some people choose to skip sleep when there are things that they would rather do than lie in bed. You may stay up later than your bedtime on occasion, but it is not a good idea to make a habit of this behavior. That’s because the lack of sleep leads to poor mental health, a higher risk of heart disease and stroke, obesity, type II diabetes, and hypertension according to the CDC. It can even lead to an early death. If you are experiencing the following five key signs that you are not getting enough sleep, you may want to see what you can do to rectify this problem now:

You Notice that You Are Gaining Weight

The body has hormones that regulate your appetite, and sleep allows the body to produce them, but some of these hormones increase your appetite. For example, when you are getting insufficient sleep, the body creates more ghrelin, a hormone that increases your appetite. Less sleep also prevents the body from producing leptin, the hormone that makes you feel full. This is a recipe that leads to weight gain.

You Begin to Crave Food That is Not Good for You

This sign has an evolutionary explanation. At one time back in the distant past, fats and carbohydrates were highly coveted because people could not eat these foods all of the time. On the rare occasions that they could have those foods, their brains would say, “I like that! Give me more!” These foods are not so hard to come by these days, but your brain still operates as if it is living in the “feast or famine” days. This is why you will continue to crave foods with fats and carbohydrates even though you can have these foods any time of the day that you want them.

You Are Drinking More Caffeine

This one is not a surprise. When you do not get enough sleep at night, you may feel groggy in the morning, and the best way to make yourself feel more alert is to drink a few cups of coffee. Although this takes care of the problem of being groggy in the morning, it will cause other issues later. As you apply this remedy to many sleepless nights, it can cause anxiety or insomnia as time goes by.

You Are Experiencing Depression

Those diagnosed with depression have an increased risk of suffering from insomnia, and those experiencing insomnia have a higher risk of experiencing depression according to sleep experts. They don’t know which one comes first, but they do know that insufficient sleep keeps your body from regulating its emotions.

You Notice that You Cannot Focus and Learning Suffers

While you sleep, you fall into non-REM sleep, and this is when your brain prepares itself to learn new things the next day. If you are not sleeping, your ability to learn new things drops by 40%. That is because insufficient sleep affects the hippocampus. This is the part of the brain that is instrumental in creating new memories.

If you feel you are not receiving enough sleep at night, look for ways to fix the problem. Perhaps you need to eliminate caffeine in the afternoon or evening or buy a new mattress, but getting enough sleep is important and should be made a priority.

Kase Abusharkh Breaks Down The Importance of Mentoring and Fostering Real Estate Talent

By: Amanda Miller

The real estate industry stands as a cornerstone of the global economy, its influence extending far beyond the simple exchange of properties. From residential homes to commercial spaces, real estate shapes the way we live, work, and interact with our surroundings. Within this dynamic sector, mentoring plays a pivotal role in the cultivation of talent required for its continued success and evolution.

Mentoring serves as a catalyst for growth, innovation, and sustainability within real estate. As seasoned professionals pass on their knowledge and experience to the next generation, they sow the seeds for a vibrant and resilient industry. In this article, we delve into the crucial role of mentorship in the real estate sector. Real estate professional, Kase Abusharkh, explores how mentorship programs not only benefit individuals but also contribute to the greater landscape of the industry, shaping its future direction and ensuring a legacy of expertise.

Understanding the Role of Mentoring in Real Estate

Mentorship within the real estate industry is a structured and vital relationship between an experienced professional (the mentor) and a less experienced individual (the mentee). This relationship is characterized by guidance, support, and knowledge sharing, all aimed at fostering growth and development within the sector.

“In the context of real estate, mentorship is multifaceted in its role,” says Kase Abusharkh. “It is instrumental in skill development, and mentors impart practical skills such as negotiation tactics, market analysis techniques, and client management strategies.”

Through hands-on learning, mentees gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of the real estate market. Mentorship facilitates the transfer of knowledge from seasoned industry veterans to emerging talent. As mentors share their wealth of experience, they provide invaluable insights into market trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.

Mentorship is a powerful tool for career advancement. Mentors often provide guidance on career paths, networking opportunities, and professional development strategies. For mentees, this guidance can be transformative, paving the way for enhanced career prospects and growth opportunities.

The symbiotic relationship between mentor and mentee fosters a culture of continuous learning and growth within the real estate sector, ensuring its vibrancy and resilience for years to come.

The Impact of Mentorship on Professional Development

Mentorship in real estate serves as a catalyst for profound professional growth and development. Through structured mentorship programs, individuals in the sector can experience significant enhancements in various facets of their careers.

A key area where mentorship excels is in the improvement of technical skills. Real estate is a multifaceted industry, requiring expertise in areas such as market analysis, property valuation, and contract negotiation.

Notes Kase Abusharkh, “Mentors, with their wealth of experience, provide mentees with practical guidance and real-world insights, sharpening their technical acumen.”

Mentorship programs play a crucial role in refining soft skills. Effective communication, negotiation prowess, and client relationship management are integral to success in real estate. Mentors act as coaches, offering feedback and strategies to help mentees hone these essential soft skills.

Real estate markets are ever-evolving, shaped by economic trends, regulatory changes, and consumer behaviors. Mentors, with their finger on the industry’s pulse, impart invaluable insights that keep mentees informed and adaptable.

Beyond technical and soft skills, mentorship also molds leadership qualities. Mentors often serve as role models, showcasing effective leadership in action. By observing their mentors’ decision-making processes and management styles, mentees develop their own leadership capabilities, paving the way for future success.

Ultimately, mentorship fosters a culture of continuous learning within the real estate sector. As mentees absorb knowledge, refine skills, and cultivate leadership traits, they contribute to a more vibrant and innovative industry landscape. The impact of mentorship extends far beyond individual growth, enriching the sector as a whole and ensuring its resilience in the face of evolving challenges.

Fostering Innovation and Adaptability Through Mentorship

A significant way mentorship fosters innovation is by encouraging mentees to explore unconventional approaches and fresh ideas. Mentors, drawing from their diverse experiences, challenge mentees to think beyond traditional boundaries.

Mentorship plays a pivotal role in honing problem-solving skills among mentees. Real estate transactions often present complex challenges, from financing hurdles to regulatory complexities.

“Mentors, acting as guides, impart strategies and insights on how to navigate these obstacles effectively. As mentees encounter and overcome such challenges under the mentor’s guidance, they develop a resilient problem-solving mindset essential for success in the industry,” says Abusharkh.

From digital marketing strategies in property transactions, mentors provide valuable knowledge and guidance on leveraging technology for competitive advantage. This exposure to emerging technologies equips mentees with the skills needed to thrive in a tech-driven real estate market.

A collaborative relationship between mentors and mentees not only cultivates individual growth but also contributes to the overall advancement and resilience of the real estate sector in an era of rapid change.

Building Sustainable Practices and Ethical Standards

Mentorship serves as a cornerstone for building sustainable practices and upholding ethical standards within the real estate industry. This critical aspect of mentorship goes beyond technical skills, focusing on instilling integrity, accountability, and social responsibility in future real estate leaders.

Real estate transactions involve significant financial investments and impact on communities. Mentors, with their seasoned perspectives, guide mentees on the importance of transparency, honesty, and adherence to ethical guidelines.

Additionally, mentorship plays a pivotal role in cultivating accountability among aspiring real estate professionals. Mentors encourage mentees to take ownership of their decisions and actions, understanding the broader implications on clients, communities, and the environment. This sense of accountability leads to more responsible practices in property development, management, and investment.

Mentorship goes beyond professional skills and shapes the ethical compass and values of future real estate leaders. By emphasizing sustainability, integrity, accountability, and DEI, mentorship programs contribute to a more responsible and socially conscious real estate sector. As mentees become advocates for these principles, the industry as a whole moves towards a more sustainable and inclusive future.

The Importance of Mentorship to the Future of Real Estate

The real estate industry stands at a pivotal juncture. Rapid technological advancements, shifting market dynamics, and growing societal expectations necessitate a workforce equipped with not just technical skills, but also ethical integrity, innovative thinking, and adaptability. Mentorship emerges as a powerful tool to meet these demands.

To move forward, stakeholders in the real estate sector must prioritize mentorship programs as a strategic investment. By nurturing talent through mentorship, organizations can cultivate a pipeline of skilled professionals ready to tackle industry challenges. Mentorship also fosters a culture of innovation, ensuring that the real estate sector remains at the forefront of technological advancements and market trends.
