According to US media, media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and actress Jerry Hall are divorcing.
For Mr. Murdoch, 91, this would be his fourth divorce. Ms. Hall, 65, was previously wed to Mick Jagger, the frontman for the Rolling Stones.
The lawyers for Mr. Murdoch and Ms. Hall, who got married in a central London mansion in 2016, have not yet responded.
According to the New York Times, their breakup surprises the family’s close friends and relatives.
The Washington Post and that newspaper both cited unnamed sources who were aware of the split.
Mr. Murdoch was rumored to be spending more time with his new wife in the past. His News Corporation empire owns important publications like Fox News and the Wall Street Journal in the US and The Sun and The Times in the UK.
The wealthy man declared himself to be “the luckiest AND happiest man in the world” at the time of his marriage and promised to quit posting on Twitter.
Lachlan, his older son, was chosen as his successor in 2018. Additionally, Rupert Murdoch gave the Walt Disney Company the majority of 21st Century Fox.
Additionally, the couple had frequently been seen together in public.
According to the New York Times, Ms. Hall was observed “doting” on her partner at his 90th birthday celebration last year.
The Texas model-turned-actress had four children with Mr. Jagger during their previous long-term relationship. In 1990, the couple exchanged vows during a Hindu wedding ceremony in Bali, Indonesia. Less than ten years later, the marriage was dissolved in London’s High Court of Justice.
Previously, Mr. Murdoch was married to three women:
- Chinese-born entrepreneur Wendi Deng from 1999 to 2014
- Scottish-born writer Anna Mann from 1967 to 1999
- Australian flight attendant Patricia Booker from 1956 to 1967
The couple has ten kids between their three marriages.
