Kevin Spacey to face UK court on sex assault charges

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that actor Kevin Spacey has been charged with four charges of sexual assault against three individuals. The 62-year-old is also accused of forcing someone to perform penetrative sexual conduct against their will. 

He is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. BST. Spacey’s charges are the result of an investigation by the Metropolitan Police. In March 2005, he was accused with two charges of sexual assault on a man in his 40s in London. 

In August 2008, in London, he was additionally charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of compelling a person to engage in penetrative sexual conduct without consent on a man in his 30s. 

The fourth charge of sexual assault was brought against another guy in his 30s in Gloucestershire in April 2013. 

Two incidents are said to have occurred in March 2005, one involving a man now in his 40s and the other in August 2008 involving a man now in his 30s. Spacey is accused of forcing the latter to engage in unconsented penetrative sexual behavior. All of these claimed attacks occurred in London. In April 2013, the actor is also accused of sexually assaulting a man in his 30s in Gloucestershire.

From 2004 until 2015, Kevin Spacey served as artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London, following critical acclaim and honors for his playing career.

Mr. Spacey earlier stated that he would appear in a UK court “voluntarily” to answer the charges. However, in a statement to Good Morning America in May, the American Beauty star stated that he was confident in his ability to prove his innocence. 

Recall earlier that the UK authorities have previously sought the extradition option to get the American TV star to return to the UK to face his charges. However, the option was not eventually explored since the actor has promised to cooperate with the relevant authorities to see the case to a reasonable conclusion.

He has appeared in films such as Seven, LA Confidential, American Beauty, and Baby Driver, as well as the Netflix series House of Cards.
